The delegation led by Mr. Vu Van Thang, Deputy Director of the General Department of Irrigation had a working session and visit for the actual situation of production and consumption of clean water at the Center for Rural Clean Water Supply and Sanitation of Ba Ria- Vung Tau.

At the meeting, the delegation was reported on the implementation of the national target of rural clean water and sanitation in 2010. Accordingly, in 2010, the center was allocated VND4,500 million for the national target program’s implementation on rural clean water and sanitation.

Until now, the center has disbursed nearly VND6,000 million, reaching 79%. It is expected to 25 December, the Center will disburse 100% of the capital allocation. In the process of implementing the program, the Center has been facing some difficulties such as the province has not been recognized villages (due to the production facilities are not eligible for recognition under the provisions of villages); rate of sanitary breeding facilities is low (42%), blue-ear pig disease affects the construction of waste treatment projects (biogas); the sanitation and water supply projects to schools are degraded and have no funds for upgrading and repair; local people are not conscious of the importance of washing hands with soap, household waste collection... so it requires to have a media works to help people raise awareness.

The delegation also went to practice, paid a visit for the operation, water treatment at Long Tan Clean Water Supply Station.
