On 1st Dec 2010, at provincial Party Committee office, Mr. Le Thanh An – Consulate general of USA visited leaders of Party Committee and People’s Committee on the occasion of assuming office at Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh – Member of Central Party, Provincial Party Committee Secretary together with Mr. Tran Minh Sanh – Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee and representatives of local departments welcomed formally the newly consulate general. At the welcome meeting, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh took a brief introduction of social economic development during past time as well as xpressed his hope to see more USA enterprises to invest in some fields at Ba Ria- Vung Tau, such as: port and logistic, tourism, healthcare system and education etc; especially human resource training for general development in the future.

Le Thanh An, 56 years-old of age, from Tien Giang province who is the first Vietnamese American holding the post of consulate general of USA, reported that he will pay more attention to promote trade and investment in Vietnam, modernize and enhance competitiveness in education, healthcare in his term of office.
