Power saving in Ba Ria-Vung Tau

On December 08, the inspectorate of the implementation of power saving activities under the Instruction No. 19/2005 of the Prime Minister, presided over by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in coordination with the Department of Industry and Trade, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Department of Electricity to check the implementation of energy saving in Vietnam Steel Corporation, the Southern Steel Company, Palace and Sammy Hotels.

On December 08, the inspectorate of the implementation of power saving activities under the Instruction No. 19/2005 of the Prime Minister, presided over by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in coordination with the Department of Industry and Trade, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Department of Electricity to check the implementation of energy saving in Vietnam Steel Corporation, the Southern Steel Company, Palace and Sammy Hotels.

According to the report of two steel companies, today, the overall energy consumption of steel industry is 450 kWh / ton of finished products (for the plants with investment of fine assembly technology). Energy consumption of these two companies is controlled in this level. Particularly, Vietnam Steel Corporation, thanks to investment in steel refining model using Consteel-ea technology represents the most advanced technology nowadays, so the energy consumption in 2009 only took 366 kWh / ton of finished products; in 2010 was 362 kWh / ton of finished products. In 2011, it is estimated to be only 358 kWh / ton of finished products.

For hotels, it has been have implemented various solutions such as saving electricity practically for more than three years such as: Installation of compact light bulbs to replace incandescent bulbs; installation of water heaters with solar energy for guest rooms; replacing new-generation air conditioners ...Particularly, Sammy Hotel also built the “green energy building" and saves 10-15% power consumption compared to previously. Currently, hotels continue applying energy saving measures.

As assessed by the inspectorate, the units in the province, in general, are aware of and have implemented well the practice in power saving.
