Dung Quất Oil Refinery Plant, the first of its kind in Việt Nam, will be officially put into full operation in two days, said PetroVietnam on January 4.

Over 1,000 local engineers and technical staff, who have been trained since the end of 2008, are ready for the full operation of the plant.

Particularly, an increasing number of Vietnamese engineers and technical staff can take over jobs being undertaken by foreign experts, said Chairman of PetroVietnam’s Management Board Đinh La Thăng.

He expected that the current 81 foreign experts will be reduced to just 40 by the end of this year.

During the test run to the end of 2010, the plant had churned out some 7.2 million tons of standard products with total revenue of VND 60 trillion (about US $2.85 billion). The revenue is projected to increase to VND 77 trillion (US $3.6 billion) in 2011.

The capacity of the plant will be upgraded to 10 million tons per year by 2016 with additional investment capital of roughly US $1 billion.

The plant’s main products include LPG, gas, petrol A92/95, paraffin, jet fuel, diesel, fuel oil, sulfur, and Polypropylene (PP)./.
