Việt Nam expects to ship 6 million tons of rice in 2011 following recent forecast of possible difficulties in import markets, according to the Việt Nam Food Association (VFA).
According to the VFA, in 2011, Việt Nam’s rice export volume will depend on the rate of global rice inventory, rising prices of input, and the shifts in rice policy in import countries.

According to the VFA, in 2011, Việt Nam’s rice export volume will depend on the rate of global rice inventory, rising prices of input, and the shifts in rice policy in import countries.
The VFA forecasts that Asia will remain Việt Nam’s biggest rice importer, accounting for over 61% of the market share.
The country’s rice export reached a record high of over 6.7 tons in 2010 with a total revenue of US $2.9 billion, or a year-on-year increase of 11.59%./.
