Việt Nam ranks first in the consumption of technical goods among eight Asian markets, with the growth rate of 28% in 2010, according to the global leading market research company, Gfk.

Of the eight surveyed markets, Việt Nam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Thailand registered strong double-digit growth of 28, 17, 17, 14 and 10 percent respectively, while Singapore (4%) and Taiwan (2%).

Small-sized electronic appliances continue to lead as the best performing category with over 40% growth in Việt Nam and Singapore.

Việt Nam, Indonesia and Hong Kong are the three markets which boasted positive growth in every categories, commented Mr. Stanley Kee, Regional Commercial Director of GfK Asia.  

Of the three categories which gained growth rate of over 40%, two came from Việt Nam, said Mr. Stanley Kee.

The country’s small-sized electronic appliances and telecommunication equipments grew between 42 and 41% over the previous year, contributing greatly to propel the country to the top of the surveyed countries./.
