Paraguay and other Latin American countries consider Việt Nam as an example for national independence, international unity, and economic development, said Paraguayan President Lugo Mendez.

Paraguayan President Lugo Mendez made the statement on March 9 in Hà Nội while meeting with Vietnamese PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng.

President Lugo Mendezs said that he was honored to be the first Paraguayan Head of State to visit Việt Nam since the two countries established diplomatic ties 16 years ago.

Sharing quite a few historical similarities and pursuing sustainable growth models, Việt Nam and Paraguay should reinforce solidarity and deepen cooperation to realize respective goals, said Mr. Lugo Mendez.

PM Dũng said he hopes to welcome more Paraguayan high-ranking delegations to Việt Nam for bettering the bilateral comprehensive ties.

The two-way trade turnover of around US $20 million per year is relatively modest, as the two countries have huge potentials, said PM Dũng.

The host leader underlined that Việt Nam stands ready to cooperate with Paraguay in all fields, including telecommunication and agriculture, and to strengthen bilateral cooperation at international forums like the UN and the WTO./.
