VN seeks int’l support for high-tech development

Việt Nam is extremely interested in nanotechnology for pollution reduction and renewable energy development and hopes to seek further support from international partners, said Deputy PM Nguyễn Thiện Nhân.
Deputy PM Nhân made the remark on April 28 in Hà Nội while receiving Mr. Scott Waugh Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost of the University of California, Los Angeles who is on a working visit to Việt Nam.

Mr. Nhân said that the cooperation between the Việt Nam National University’s Hồ Chí Minh City branch and the University of California, one of top 10 best universities in the US, would open up more opportunities for the Vietnamese university in the fields of new materials, structure of molecular materials, and nanotechnology. 
The Deputy PM affirmed that the Vietnamese Government would create favorable conditions for the establishment of advance research environment and research groups on these fields at the Việt Nam National University with the participation of world’s leading experts from American universities.
Mr. Scott Waugh said that he hopes to seek support from the Vietnamese Government for the formulation of a world-class research center on molecular and nanotechnology in Việt Nam in the coming time./.
