Discussion of Integrated Master Plant (IMP)

From 23 to 27 May 2011, at the Headquarters of the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts came to work with VARANS. Dr. Ngo Dang Nhan – Director General of VARANS chaired the working week. Participants in working with the delegation are VARANS leaders and representatives from the Government Office, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Science and Technology, Vietnam Atomic Energy Agency (VAEA) and Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VAEI).

Participants in working with the delegation are VARANS leaders and representatives from the Government Office, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Science and Technology, Nuclear Power and Renewable Energy Project Pre-Investment Board (NRPB), Vietnam Atomic Energy Agency (VAEA) and Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute (VAEI).

IAEA experts said in the process of building Integrated Master Plant (IMP) that recently discussed between IAEA and relevant agencies of Vietnam, IAEA focus on safety and siting issues. Objective of this mission is discussion of issues related to radiation and nuclear safety, emergency preparedness and response, siting and finally, agreement of the draft IMP.

 

In additional, they also presented Regulatory Cooperation Forum (RCF) established with 15 core group members including Vietnam with the objective of providing effective coordination and collaboration for developing effectively independent and robust regulatory body to assure safe and secure nuclear power program, Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) with issues for regulatory body and capability as well as plan of VARANS for using this tool.
