Cloud computing would help the ministry address its fragmented IT infrastructure with data centres scattering at a number of departments and provincial-level offices, he said.
The IBM CloudBurst solution was selected to build the new data centre, said Chinh, adding that he hoped the solution would lay a solid foundation for the ministry to successfully implement the national Natural Resources and Environment Database programme.
Willy Chiu, Vice President of IBM Cloud Labs and High Performance On-Demand Solutions, Software Group said: "Adopting the CloudBurst solution will allow MONRE to provide new strategic insights to the local government through the integration of Viet Nam's natural resources and environment data."
MONRE is the second State agency to adopt IBM's cloud computing solutions after the Viet Nam National Institute of Software and Digital Content Industry under the Ministry of Information and Communications.
