A recent Việt Nam-South Africa Business Forum held in Johannesburg with the participation of over 200 enterprises has put the spotlight on agriculture, forestry and seafood.

Addressing the forum, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hồ Xuân Hùng said South Africa is a large and promising market for Vietnamese goods, especially farm products, to penetrate into the African market.

The two countries’ two-way trade reached nearly US $650 million in 2010, up 26.7% against 2009. In the first half of this year, Việt Nam exported over US $750 million worth of goods to South Africa.

Ms. Mayathula Khoza, a South African agriculture official, said she hoped localities of the two countries will strengthen economic and trade relations, exchange experiences in production and business, especially in agricultural development in the coming time.

During the forum, some Vietnamese and South African firms signed cooperation deals.
