It will stimulate the development of port activities thereby.

For the time being, businesses can hardly exploit the advantages of BR-VT ports. Goods from businesses in the province to the Cai Mep - Thi Vai are running the loop: from BR-VT transported to Ho Chi Minh City’s ports and then barged back to Cai Mep-Thi Vai area. According to the shipping companies, over 95% goods are discharged at the Cai Mep - Thi Vai area and shipped by barge from Ho Chi Minh City’s ports and the dry docks from Dong Nai, Binh Duong.

Since Ho Chi Minh City’s ports continue competition policy to hold the volume of goods through ports. The owners and service companies are still reluctant when converting into new areas.
