Baseafood products present in 40 countries

Mr. Tran Van Dung, General Director of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Seafood Processing and Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Baseafood) expressed his joy, "The Lighthouse Prize 2010 is the fourth prize awarded to the Company. In recent years, the global financial recession has caused great impacts on production and business of Baseafood. The Company’s market strategy is deceleration of sales contract, in which Russia is the largest market accounting for 35% of the total sales and export turnover. Prices of raw materials, fuel, electricity and water in seafood processing have gone up, but export prices still remained. Severe competitiveness in procurement of raw materials caused difficulties for the Company ...Encountered these difficulties, all employees in the Company took the initiative, overcame and determined to keep the
“prestige” of the Baseafood brand name with the motto "Professional – Dynamism - Development". The Company focused on expanding export market at home and abroad, and continued investment and innovation of modern production technology to meet the requirements and tastes of customers. The Company has always encouraged employees to apply the motto "Thrift Practice" at anytime, anywhere.

In the period 2000-2010, Baseafood achieved growth from 20-30% / year. In the first 9 months of 2011, the export turnover reached USD17.4 million, up more than USD5 million over the same period last year. The Company’s staples remain the processed, frozen and dry products, exported to 40 countries from Asia, Europe, and Americas.

From 2005 to now, the Company has also focused on boosting domestic consumption. The proportion of Baseafood domestic products from 2% has now gone up 22% of the produced items. The process of local product management is in accordance with ISO standards and ensures adequate standards such as HACCP and EU, Japan, Korea CODE... As a result, the Baseafood products are increasingly selected by domestic consumers, domestic sales accounted for more than VND70 billion.

In addition to boosting production and business activities, Baseafood is also very interested in improving employees’ material and spiritual life. Income of employees is now VND 3,000,000 / person / month.

Mr. Tran Van Thuan, President of the Company Union, said that every year, the Company deducted the welfare fund to build and repair 10-30 houses of charity houses for poor workers, regularly organizes sightseeing, travel activities for workers in holidays. The Company also facilitated 225 employees who had difficult circumstances to access the preferential loan from the funds" internal interdependence" totaling about VND1.8 billion/year.
