The delegation of Vietnam national oil and gas group, PetroVietnam (PVN) led by Mr. Do Van Hau, PVN General Director, paid a visit and worked with Petroleum Equipment Assembly & Metal Structure Co., Ltd (PVC-MS) on the deployment of Nam Con Son 2 gas pipeline project.

The delegation visited the PVC-MS’s petroleum equipment and metal structure fabrication yard where carrying out the Topside H4Te Giac Trang project, the first project of PVC-MS in the form of general contractor. The PVN General Director highly appreciated the efforts of PVC-MS in yard construction, improving production capacity and expanding the scope of offshore fabrication, construction and installation activities.

The delegation had a shift handover meeting on the status of the NCS 2 project implementation. The NCS 2 pipeline project invested by PVGas consists of 2 items - onshore and offshore construction. Offshore construction and installation are undertaken by Vietsovpetro Joint Venture (VSP), the consortium PVC and PVC- MS take the role of general contractor for onshore construction of the GPP2 plant, stations and gas pipelines. The total bidding package for onshore works is worth USD432.5 million.

After more than 3 months of implementation, the works of contractors are being executed as planned. Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Do Van Hau acknowledged the efforts of the contractors in the project, and reminded the general contractors to prioritize subcontractors who are the Group member units and national businesses. Only the high-tech parts that Vietnam cannot carry out shall be put out to tender for foreign contractors to undertake in compliance with the regulation.

The NCS2 Gas Pipeline Project is built to aim at gas collection from the Hai Thach, Moc Tinh and Thien Ung, Mang Cau and other neighboring oil fields of the Nam Con Son basin to the GPP2 plant, simultaneously satisfying the demand for gas imported from Southeast Asia countries for the South Vietnam in the future. The project will efficiently exploit natural resources to contribute to the security of the nation"s energy.
