According to the subdivision scheme at ratio 1/2.000, Long Son island will be a multi-functional urban area in the overall planning of Vung Tau City, which the main functions are the oil and gas industry and supporting industry. Accordingly, Long Son will be renovated and refurbished, built new urban residential areas to meet the needs of future development and resettlement in situ; preserve natural mangrove ecosystems. The systems of new urban areas, renovated residential areas include 6 subdivisions, in which the Mang Ca lake will have high density residential area, high-rise housing structures, gardens and villas. Cha Va residential area planned with main function as housing associated commercial services.

Furthermore, at Long Son island commune, industrial land is also adjusted to increase the area to 1,250ha, including the 400ha petrochemical complex project and a 850ha petroleum industrial zone, including oil refinery project No. 3, land reserved for oil refinery No. 3, the underground gasoline storage and infrastructure project, transport, major works arranged in the barrier of the petrochemical industrial zone.

According to Mr. Truong Van Tri, Vice Chairman of Vung Tau City People’s Committee, the subdivision scheme of Long Son Island on the scale 1 / 2000 is the basis for next steps such as detailed planning for the rate of 1 / 500, and creating basis of information, receiving, attracting feasible projects, preparing construction of technical and social infrastructure systems related to residential areas, industrial zones for the social - economic development of Long Son island.
