Ninh Thuận People’s Committee on Saturday officially announced its master planning scheme for socioeconomic development until 2020.

Ninh Thuận People’s Committee on Saturday officially announced its master planning scheme for socioeconomic development until 2020.

The master planning scheme, ratified by PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng on July 22 this year, defines specific objectives, including the annual GDP growth rates of 16-18% from 2011  to 2015 and 19 – 20% from 2016 to 2020.

By 2015, the proportion of industry construction will account for 40% of the locality’s GDP; agriculture-forestry-aquaculture, 25%; and service sector, 35%.

The GDP per capital is expected to stand at US $1,400 by 2015 and US $2,800 by 2020. The rate of poor households will be brought down by 1.2-1.5% annually within the next decade.

Ninh Thuận sets the target to increase the trained workforce to 50% by 2015.

The locality will prioritize on six areas, namely energy; tourism; agriculture-forestry-aquaculture; processing; education; and construction and real estate business. By 2020, these areas are expected to contribute up to 91% of the locality’s GDP and create jobs for 85% of the local workforce.

Earlier, the Government decided to locate the country’s first two nuclear power plants in Ninh Thuận.

Speaking at the ceremony to announce the master planning scheme, PM Dũng praised the locality for taking advantage of domestic and foreign experts’ experiences to develop the planning scheme with a clear vision and strategy.

He urged Ninh Thuận to create breakthrough in mobilizing resources for the realization of the scheme.
