Project on int’l integration capacity launched

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) on December 20 launched the project to enhance the international integration capacity of Viet Nam to 2020

 

The project, supported by the UNDP, aims to enhance the capacity on comprehensive planning and implementation of international integration for ministries, sectors and localities in Viet Nam.

It focuses in 7 activities, including the training program for high-ranking officials of Viet Nam, which is in co-ordination with the US’s Harvard University, implementing and supporting researches and policy seminars on international integration, training programs on skills and knowledge on related issues.

The project will be implemented in 2012-14, which is also an important period for the implementation of the socio-economic development plan 2011-2015, creating a foundation for the socio-economic development strategy 2011-20 with the target of developing Viet Nam towards a modernized industrial country bi 2020.

This is also the international integration and co-operation period for Viet Nam with important changes, especially the tasks of building up an ASEAN community by 2015, completing the pledges when joining WTO by 2018 and 5 free trade agreements together with the regional comprehensive economic partnership, which Viet Nam is negotiating with leading partners in the world and the region.

During the launching ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and UNDP Resident Representative Louise Chamberlain signed the document, making the project officially take effect.
