On 25 December 2012, Provincial department of Science and Technology hold Science Council to accept the project of “Experiment on commercial rice field crab feeding model in land pond and rice field in Dat Do district, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province” headed by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Dang (Provincial farmer ‘s Union).

Rice field crab is clean, delicious, nutritious and cheap food and is priority food in family meals. At present, crab consumption demand in province is large, especially in dry seasons. Price of the rice field crab in the dry season in 2011 increased up to over 80.000đ/kg.

The project has chosen 5 households in Xuyen Moc district to experiment for model of commercial rice field crab feeding. In general, crab feeding requires small investment capital and less care forces. Especially, crab feeding does not face with disease risks. After about 3 feeding months, feeder can use trap to catch crabs gradually from big crab-roe and firm crabs to sell. In recent years, crab price is always high, so crab feeder also has quite high income.
