On 02 January, Mr. Dinh Quang Dong, Director of Ben Dam Port Management Authority, said after a week of suspending operations due to unfavourable weather, starting from 03 January, the passenger transport and cargo routes from Vung Tau to Con Dao and vice versa by sea will be run back to meet the demand for travel, transportation of people and goods. Major Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Chief of Military Border Station 540 Con Dao, said in recent days, although the shipping routes Vung Tau-Con Dao had to suspend operations, in Con Dao district area did not occur shortage of food, vegetables and other necessities. All activities of the people living on the island district still occured as usual, the political, social order and safety situation on the occasion of New Year 2013 was secured well.
