Vung Tau uses flowers to maintain beach environment

More than 1,000 m2 of the Long Hai coastal alluvial in the southern city of Vung Tau has been covered by flowers and trees, using the technology from the Middle East. This model will be replicated along the coast of Vietnam.

In June 2012, the People's Committee of Ba Ria Vung Tau province approved the project of planting trees on approximately 1,000m2 of the coastal alluvial in the town of Long Hai, Long Dien District, Vung Tau city. Several months after the project was implemented, the innutritious sandy area which had only weeds and cactus, is now covered with the colors of flowers and green trees. Mr. Tran Luong, director of a construction company in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, the project developer, said that his company planted trees and flowers on nearly 1,000m2 of coastal land. This technology is imported from the Middle East, where flowers and trees are planted in the severe weather conditions. The most prominent feature of this technology is the saving of water resources, high efficiency for crops, and erosion control for coastal areas.
