According to the Department of Transportation, in 2013, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province will have more 4 seaport projects, with total capacity of about 20-25 million tons of cargo, put into operation. They are: Vung Tau Petro port, Cai Mep- Thi Vai international port, SSIT port and the phase I of Gemalink project. The province expects to serve around of 50,8 million tons of cargo and some 125,000 turns of tourist through the ports this year. It spends a total of over VND 4,200 billion, up 10% over last year, to develop new seaports. At the moment, Ba Ria-Vung Tau has 15 seaports which are preparing to build, with total investment capital of about VND 56,000 billion. In which, Thi Vai-Cai Mep area has 10 projects, Long Son-Vung Tau has 4 projects and Con Dao has one.
