Users lose VND8 trillion to computer virus in Vietnam

Bkav Internet Security Company has said that in 2012 computer users in Vietnam suffered losses upto nearly VND8 trillion (US$400 million) due to computer virus.

On an average, one single computer user lost VND1.35 billion and 90 percent of computer users admitted that their USB drive was infected at least one time in the past twelve months, up by 5 percent compared to last year.

In the month of May, 425 websites of organizations and companies in Vietnam were attacked by hackers, of which nine were carried out by Vietnamese hackers and the rest by foreign ones.

In late 2012, computer systems of several organizations and companies in Vietnam were infected by spyware after users opened document files attached in their emails.
