Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has said besides traditional cooperation areas such as education and healthcare, Vietnam and Cuba have worked together to increase their ties in agriculture and information technology, which are Vietnam’s strengths.

Receiving Cuban Deputy Minister of Communications Wilfredo Gonzalez Vidal in Hanoi on July 9, Deputy PM Nhan noted that during the past two decades, Vietnam has modernised its IT sector and affirmed its international position.

IT is now applied nationwide in various fields, he said, adding that Vietnamese IT firms have developed unceasingly and expanded their operations abroad, with a bright example being the military-run Viettel Telecommunication Group.
