First Vietnamese smartphone up and running

The VNPT Technology Company has released VIVAS Lotus S1, the first smartphone designed, assembled and produced in Viet Nam.

VIVAS Lotus S1 has a five-inch screen, a microprocessor of 1Ghz, a random access memory of 512MB, internal storage of 4GB and can be expandable with a microSD memory card with a maximum of 32GB.

Like other smartphones, it uses Android 4.0.4 operating system and has wifi connection, high speed 3G network, global positioning system and bluetooth technology.

The 5 megapixel camera phone is also integrated with online applications on VNPT Applications Store, helping users access those offered by mobile network providers, such as MobiPhone's mRadio and VinaPhone's Cha Cha music service. VIVAS Lotus S1 sells for VND3.9 million (US$185).

Customers can receive a smartphone for VND2,210,000 ($105). The price includes a VinaPhone simcard worth VND1,250,000 ($59.5).
