National University (VNU), Hanoi  announced on January 16 that it has successfully built and analysed the genome of a Vietnamese human – a graphical representation of the genetic information shared by Vietnamese people. 

The breakthrough was made by a research team led by PhD. Le Sy Vinh from the Technology University under VNU. 

From analytical results, the Vietnamese human genome not only fits the standard genome, but also contains some new changes relating to its structure. 

There are only about 20 countries worldwide to successfully build a national genome, which greatly impacts many different fields, including medicine, pharmacology, biotechnology and anthropology, while promoting national economic development.
