A diplomat and a renowned architect were among 214 people aged under 40 from around the world honored at the annual World Economic Forum in Switzerland for their outstanding and inspiring achievements.

 A diplomat and a renowned architect were among 214 people aged under 40 from around the world honored at the annual World Economic Forum in Switzerland for their outstanding and inspiring achievements.

Nguyen Hoang Long, Vietnam's Ambassador to Italy, won the“Young Global Leader” award for his contributions to relations between Vietnam and Italy, while architect Vo Trong Nghia is known for his green buildings that have won many international awards.

The two will join an organization known as the Forum of Young Global Leaders together with other honorees.

During their six-year tenure, they will be involved in the forum’s meetings, initiatives, and research into problems faced by humankind, according to the WEF’s website.

This year's honorees, including 109 women, come from 66 countries and work in fields ranging from politics to arts.

An independent international organization, the WEF works to improve the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic, and other leaders to shape global, regional, and industrial agendas.
