Hand 20 awards on science and technology ideas

 On 18 September, 2014 Department of Science & Technology in combination with Ba Ria-Vung Tau University organized a summary ceremony of contest “Science and Technology ideas 2014”. Participating includes Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thuong – Vice-chairman of provincial labor league, Prof.Dr. Ngo Van Luoc – Vice-principal of Baria-Vungtau (BR-VT) University, Prof.Dr. Nguyen Loc – Vice-principal of BR-VT University; Mr. Mai Thanh Quang – Director of Department of Science & Technology; Mr.Nguyen Kim Truong – Deputy Director of Department of Science & Technology.

Pursuant to guiding idea of People’s Committee Baria-Vungtau at document No. 1470/UBND-VP dated 12 March 2014 on organizing contest “Science and technology ideas Baria-Vungtau 1st time – 2014, after success of contest “Science and technology ideas BR - VT, Department of Science & Technology in combination with Baria-Vungtau University built a plan to organize the contest “Science and technology ideas at BR-VT University”.

The competition was launched from April to June 8/2014, intended for an audience of officers, faculty, staff and students of BR-VT University. After 4 months of launch, Board of Organization has received 123 dossiers submitted for the contest, including 68 solutions by officers and lectures, 55 solutions students.

During judging, the jury has selected 20 solutions with applicability and good performance for awards, including one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes and 14 prizes encouraging.

Specifictly, idea "Using control software in industry to replace 04 rooms of practice and Automatic Control" of the group Dr. Nguyen Phan Cuong - Lecturer of Electrical & Electronics Falcuty and MSc. Nguyen Minh Trung - Training Division reached the grand prize winner.

02 second prizes are "To enhance online enrollment to expand enrollment scale for BR-VT University" by MA. Ngo Manh Lam - Lecturer in Economics Falcuty and "Application of lysozyme in combination with Nisin and Edta as anti-bacterial membrane for food preservation" of the authors MA. Pham Huu Hanh - . Chu Thi Ha, Lecturer in falcuty of Chemistry & Food Technology

03 third prizes were awarded to idea: "Take subject"soft skills "into curriculum for college students - College of School" by Vo Thi Thu Hong - Lecturer in Economics Falcuty; "Isolation, construction and manufacturing processes using biomass Trichoderma in controlling fungal diseases that plague some pepper tree" of . Nguyen Van Go - Lecturer in Falcuty of Chemistry and Food Technology; "Design of cutting equipment cocoa shell" of students group Le Huyen Mi, Ho Xuan Hiep; Nguyen Thi Hieu, Class DH11H2- & Falcuty of Chemistry and Food Technology.

According to Board of Organization, ideas for ​​award have demonstrated innovation and creativity in order to improve quality of teaching, learning and management processes in the university, trained knowledge transfer in production reality and trading. Many solutions proposed by authors were deployed and applied immediately by Baria - Vungtau University or there is a plan to be implemented in schools in the future.

On this occasion, the organization also launched Invention Competition in 2014 organized by Ministry of Science and Technology in coordination with World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Departments of Science and Technology, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang City and Magazine of Intellectual Property and Innovation. The competition aims to encourage active patents, create technologies with broad applicability, ease and without much cost to meet practical needs of life and contribute to sustainable development in community, socio-economic development of the country.

Participants are all citizens of Vietnam or Vietnam organizations living and working in territory of Vietnam; regardless of age, composition, ethnicity and occupation. Each individual, organization may only submit one competition record for a technical solution. Contest prizes include: 01 First Prize 100 million VND, together with medals and certificates of WIPO; 01 second prize worth 50 million VND, together with medals and certificates of WIPO; 01 Third Prizes worth 30 million VND, together with medals and certificates of WIPO; and 12 Honorable worth 10 million VND for technical solutions selected in the final round.
