To accept subject “mental psychology health of pupils in secondary schools

On 25 September, 2014 Department of Science & Technology BR-VT organized a conference to accept subject “mental psychology health of pupils in secondary schools in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, status and measures” headed by Doctor specialist I Ngo Thanh Phong.  The lead agency is Mental Hospital of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. 

On 25 September, 2014 Department of Science & Technology BR-VT organized a conference to accept subject “mental psychology health of pupils in secondary schools in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, status and measures” headed by Doctor specialist I Ngo Thanh Phong.  The lead agency is Mental Hospital of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. 

The subject is implemented based on practical survey at 30 secondary schools of districts and cities in Ba Ria – Vung Tau within 18 months (from October, 2012 to August, 2014). The target of subject is to identify psychological and mental disorder rate of pupils in secondary schools in Ba Ria-Vung Tau. From that, build and evaluate effectiveness of model of mental psychology health care in secondary schools in Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

 

According to research result of subject, mental psychology health of pupils in secondary schools includes 19.2% students with mental psychology disorder, 13.2% pupils with depression; 13% pupils with anxiety disorder. Rate of disease is mainly at grade 8, increase gradually according to age, class and most of patients are due to family violence and poor family. From then, head of subject suggested some measures, models to take care, helping students to access health care services, Provincial Mental Hospital is responsible to manage, treat pupils with mental disease; teachers of secondary schools need to take care and help often anxious and insecure students, actively talk to erase distance between pupils and teachers; schools need to their have school counselors …etc. Rate of mental disorder students decreased after having mental healthcare model in secondary schools in Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Specifically, previous rate 19.2% students; now rate decreased 7.5% students with mental disorder.      

 

Acceptance council highly evaluated results of subject having highly practical values, measures and models are suitable with practical conditions in secondary schools of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The subject is accepted and classified excellent by the council.
