Vietnam sciences academy looks to tighten cooperation with Iran

A delegation of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS), led by its President Nguyen Xuan Thang, paid a visit to Iran from April 12-16, with a hope of intensifying cooperation in science between the two countries.

During its stay, the delegation held working sessions with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister and Director of the Centre for International Research and Education (CIRE) Hadi Soleimanpour, Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi, Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology Salar Amoli, and President of the Academy of Sciences Reza Davari Ardakani, among others.

The delegation also delivered a speech at the CIRE’s School for International Relations and joined with the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) in a seminar on Vietnam-Iran relations in the contemporary world.

The two sides exchanged opinions on issues of mutual concern, with a focus on information sharing on their respective domestic and international situations and measures to enhance cooperation between VASS and its Iranian partners.

Iranian officials emphasised their hopes to collaborate with Vietnam in social science research and personnel training and exchange.

The VASS delegation also visited several cultural and historical sites in the Iranian capital Tehran.
