From May 20th 2015 to May 21st 2015, the
Department of Science and Technology of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province held a
workshop on The National Quality Awards 2015 at the Sub-Department of Standard,
Metrology and Quality with the coordination of the Vietnam Quality and Standard
Institute (Directorate of Standard, Metrology and Quality).
The National
Quality Awards is an important event of national productivity and quality
movements. Its objective is to recognize organizations and companies that have archived
outstanding performance in raising good and service quality, contributing to
improve their quality culture as well as that of Ba Ria Vung Tau province.
Shortlisted organizations and companies that have National Quality Awards
receive trophies and award letters from the Prime Minister. There are two types
of the National Quality Awards: gold and silver ones. Companies received the
gold awards are recommended to apply for the Asia Pacific Quality Awards.
According to
the Sub-Department of Standard, Metrology and Quality, there were 11 awards
that were presented to companies of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province from 2012 to
2014, including one Asia Pacific Quality Award and 3 golden and 7 silver National Quality Awards. Two
companies awarded in 2014 were the National Oil Services Company of Vietnam Limited (OSC Vietnam) with
the golden awards and the Thong Nhat Rubber Joint Stock Company with the silver
award.
During the workshop, Mr. Phung Manh Truong
introduced three main areas related to the National Quality Awards for
representatives of over 20 companies. Those three areas are: introduction and
guideline procedures attending National Quality Awards 2015; terms of financial
supports regulations for companies achieved the awards; drafting guide for the
general introduction report and the self-assessment report according to
criteria of the national Quality Awards
According to
Mr. Truong, National Quality Awards has
7 criteria divided into 18 sub-criteria with total of more than 200 questions
evaluated with a maximum of 1000 points. The seven criteria are listed
including: role of
leadership, operation strategy, customer and market oriented policy, measurement;
anylist and knowledge management; human resource development management;
operation management; business results. In addition, the general introduction
report has two main parts: the first part describes organization business
(business environment and relations); the second part describes business
challenges (competition, strategy context, operation improving system).
Through the workshop, companies gained
insights into the seven criteria as well as fundamentals of report writing
about introduction their organizations when attend the National Quality Awards
2015.
