An Viet Long Co. Ltd. announced the debut of the 3D scanner in the METALEX Machinery and Technology Exhibition, held at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City during October 8-10.

An Viet Long’s founder Loc Le told VIR, “It took us two years to develop software solution and hardware integration for the whole 3D scanner system. Visiting our booth at METALEX 2015, people can enjoy their first experience with 3D scanning and printing technology.”

The 3D scanners include a camera system, a system for sending data by Wi-Fi to a server, and another for creating the 3D image. This model can capture a single moment in time from multiple cameras and scan a range of more than two metres. The camera can resolve details of 0.1 mm and take only milliseconds to capture moving objects at the event, for example, restless children.

Interestingly, it can scan the entire body and use the resulting file to print a life-like replica. The 3D figurine would make an ideal gift for friends, family members, and business partners. It is also perfect for celebrating milestones such as birthdays, graduations, or weddings.

Some common applications of this technology include industrial design, orthotics and prosthetics, reverse engineering and prototyping, as well as movie and video game production. Following its debut, An Viet Long expected to sell its 3D scanners to customers in these fields. In addition, the company would set up representative offices all around the world. Each office will house a 3D scanner to serve customers who want to use 3D scanning without having to purchase the device.

With this leading-edge technology, all of the collected data will be sent to the server in Vietnam to process and construct the 3D images. Customers can also keep the scanned image file for future printing.

Le said that the company was currently sourcing high-resolution cameras at a reasonable price in order to manufacture low-cost 3D scanners in large numbers. Compared to the hand held 3D scanners currently available, this model has been designed to be faster and more affordable in order to meet  customer demand.

In addition to 3D body scanning and 3D printers, An Viet Long also conducts business in a wide range of fields such as aerospace, telecommunication accessories, remote control helicopters, aerial photography, motorcycle parts, composite arts, and multiple colour chrome plating.

Founded in 2007, An Viet Long has always been driven by a global ambition to provide customers with the best products so they can enjoy their hobbies at an affordable price.

To facilitate this goal, the company has exported remote control helicopters to over 100 countries, as well as introduced their Vietnamese brand of  motorcycle parts and accessories throughout Asia and emerging markets.

The remote control helicopter for crop spraying has been specifically designed for Vietnamese conditions, and is capable of spraying the top of coconut trees efficiently and reducing the amount of toxic chemicals used. The company has demonstrated the technology to farmers throughout the Mekong Delta region.

“To keep up with expectations from an increasingly global customer base, the company is always looking for the latest technology to renovate products. This cannot be done without the support of the talented people and foreign specialists in An Viet Long,” Le said.
