Vietnam, Finland strengthen cooperation in technology

The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovations on March 8 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on boosting the two countries’ cooperation in science and technology.

The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovations on March 8 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on boosting the two countries’ cooperation in science and technology.

Under the MoU, the Vietnamese and the Finnish governments will support enterprises to implement joint researches in the fields of telecommunications, healthcare, energy, and nano and clean technologies.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland Lenita Toivakka said that the two countries have deployed a number of innovation projects.

Among them, the Finland-Vietnam Innovation Partnership Programme (IPP), now in its second phase, has marked the two countries’ successful collaboration in the field and contributed greatly to the socio-economic development of Vietnam.

In 2015, Vietnam rose to 52nd from 76th position in 2013 over 141 countries in the world in terms of its innovation level thanks to the contribution of the IPP, said Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Quoc Khanh.
