Planting 1,700 trees in Binh Chau – Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve to celebrate the World Environment Day

In response to the World Environment Day, on the early morning of June 5th, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province held a tree planting event at Binh Chau - Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve (Xuyen Moc district).

In response to the World Environment Day, on the early morning of June 5th, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province held a tree planting event at Binh Chau - Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve (Xuyen Moc district). Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh - Member of the Central Party Committee, and Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee and representatives of the government departments and agencies in the province.

Forest protection and development activities in the province in recent years have been improved and many achivements have been reached yet more efforts need to be made. The province targeted that during the period of 2015-2020, 3.390 ha of land in the province will be covered by forest, increasing coverage level by more than 13.9% from the current 44,2%, stated Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh.

To achieve this result, Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with revelent departments and communities in reviewing and surveying situation to implement reforestation programs effectively. Every leader of government organizations should endeavor to environmental issues and lead efforts to increase tree coverage in each organization and in communitities toward the image of a green Ba Ria – Vung Tau province in the future.

After the opening ceremony, participants planted 1,700 young plants including red wood, sandalwood, alatus and other species in an area of ​​approximately 2 hectares in Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve .

The event was a meaningful activities for each participant while helping increase public awareness in forest reservation and reforestation.
