On the 1st of August, the Department of Science and Technology organized an Advisory Council to directly assign the implementation of project on “Selecting the application model for hard coral rehabilitation at Ramsar site in Con Dao national park” to Ass. Prof. Dr. Vo Si Tuan as the project leader and the management board of Con Dao national park as the lead agency.

The project aims at selecting a location and identifying the scale of hard coral rehabilitation, developing a set of criteria to assess the results of hard coral rehabilitation, developing a procedure for care and protection of hard coral at Ramsar site in Con Dao national park and raising community awareness.

When the coral reefs in Con Dao are rehabilitated, the marine resources will rapidly be recovered and the sea environment will be fresh, which in turn resulted in the restoration of marine biodiversity, particularly aquatic species living and reproducing in the coral reefs.

The Advisory Council highly evaluated the feasibility and practical significance of the project and agreed for pilot implementation after completing and supplementing some contents as suggested by the Council.
