Mr. Dang Minh Thong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Radiation Emergency Response of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, attended the event and gave the opening speech. Participated in the event were leaders of the Department of Science and Technology, the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department, representatives of provincial departments and agencies, leaders of PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation, leaders and workers of the Phu My Fertilizer Plant.

The simulation involved a technical incident leading to a fire at the Urea Unit, Phu My Fertilizer Plant. The fire spread rapidly and went beyond the control of Phu My Fertilizer Plant and led to leak of radioactive sources. Therefore, the provincial Steering Committee for Radiation Emergency Response mobilized related forces to cooperate with the Phu My Fertilizer Plant to identify incident area, collect radioactive sources and completely handle the leak of radioactive sources, ensure safety for workers and rescuers.

Participants in the rehearsal were more than 30 officials and staffs from the Department of Science and Technology; the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department; the Provincial Police; the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Industrial Zones Authority; the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Health, the Department of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs and Phu My Fertilizer Plant.
