The event, held jointly by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam, the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, and the Vietnam Association for Intellectual Women, is organised in response to the World Intellectual Property Day 2018 on the theme of “Powering change: Women in innovation and creativity”.
The event also aims to raise public awareness of intellectual property, and the role of women in the formation and development of the creative community and economy.
A photo exhibition and thematic seminars on women’s inventions and their role in innovation and creativity will be held as part of the event.
This year’s World Intellectual Property Day campaign celebrates the brilliance, ingenuity, curiosity, and courage of the women who are driving change in our world and shaping our common future.
World Intellectual Property Day is observed annually on April 26. The event was established by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in 2000 to raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks, and designs impact on our daily life, and to celebrate creativity, and the contribution of creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe.
April 26 was chosen as the date for World Intellectual Property Day as it coincides with the date on which the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organisation entered into force in 1970.
