Associate Professor Dinh Thi Bich Lan, a senior lecturer at Hue University, is the author of a number of vanguard veterinary research projects. Her research has helped produce widely applicable high-tech products for agricultural production and husbandry.

Dinh Thi Bich Lan was born in 1960. After graduation from the Moscow Academy of Veterinary Medicine, she worked at Hue University. In 1994, Lan went to Japan to continue her veterinary research at Obihiro and Gifu universities.

“I have a great passion for research. I think a university would hardly develop without highly competent researchers,” Lan said. 

Lan and her colleagues have devoted a great deal of effort to researching varieties of highly productive pig hybrids. After 10 years, their research has been widely recognized and considerably helped the pig husbandry industry in Thua Thien Hue and other central provinces. In 2014, Lan was appointed Deputy Head of the Institute of Biotechnology at Hue University, where she and her colleagues produced recombinant vaccines to prevent infectious diseases in cattle and fowl.

Mr. Le Quoc Viet, one of Lan’s co-workers, said “After graduating from university, I worked on a farm. Then, I met Ms. Lan who inspired me to do research. I have learnt a lot from her. Lan’s research is widely applied in agricultural production and husbandry in Hue and Quang Binh province. Her vaccines have helped prevent many diseases for the animals”.

Lan has also produced clean vegetables and fruits, including varieties of Japanese tomatoes, lettuce, red dragon fruit and vegetable farming models in response to climate change.

Associate Professor Dinh Thi Bich Lan has completed more than 20 projects, published 2 books, and had 46 articles published in magazines in Vietnam and worldwide. Her efforts have been widely recognized with many awards, including the Kovalevskaya Award in 2017.
