On
the morning of December 11, in Vung Tau City, the Department of Science and
Technology held a seminar on "Application of artificial intelligence and
data science in production and life" to update knowledge on artificial
intelligence (AI) and data science in the digital transition era as well as
trends in the application of artificial intelligence in the field of medical,
electronics, logistics, transportation, education, agriculture and other
potential fields of Vietnam. This helps organizations, enterprises, academics,
young intellectuals, people in the province understand and raise awareness
about AI, data science as well as application of AI in management, production
and life.
The seminar saw the presentation of Mr. Mai Thanh Quang - Director of Department of Science and Technology; Prof. Dr. Ho Tu Bao - John von Neumann Institute (JVN), National University of Ho Chi Minh City and the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM); Dr. Nguyen Tuan Hoa - Team leader of independent consultants; MSc. Do Van Long - Regional Strategic Director of Infinity Blockchain Labs and scientists in and outside the province. And the participation of over 170 delegates who were representatives of departments, institutes, institutes, universities and colleges, enterprises inside and outside the province.
On opening remarks, Mr. Mai Thanh Quang stated that human resources and technology are the important factors that determine the competitiveness, if we can make sure that our human resources can timely access to good technologies, the growth of the economy will be boosted. In recent years, the province has held many forums and conferences to discuss about the fourth industrial revolution. However, they were only general information about the opportunities and challenges of the fourth industrial revolution in the present context, at the same time, the revolution also showed a number of typical applications and technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), data science, blockchain technology, virtual reality, internet of things, and so on… He also hoped that through this seminar, organizations and individuals would understand and gain access to the applications of the fourth industrial revolution that could be applied in practice better.
At the seminar, delegates listened to Prof. DS. Ho Tu Bao introduces "Artificial intelligence and data science: the key to digital transformation". Prof. DS. Ho Tu Bao shared the core concepts of artificial intelligence, data science, the fields that make up the digital revolution; national strategies and discussions of appropriate direction for Vietnam in the digital transition era. It can be said, the advancement of science has allowed people to digitize almost every entity in the world, and thus connect their digital versions in the internet space, or the Internet of Things (IoT) - A network of things connected by the Internet. Data science plays the role of "the brain" in the analysis of the data provided by that digital space, thereby making the decision to operate in the real world through artificial intelligence. He emphasized that the data science is “the key of digital technology era”. Therefore, to not fall behind, the nearest targets of Vietnam in general and BR-VT in particular should be focusing on building and developing the data infrastructure and at the same time training human resources, especially the "elite" experts are capable of mastering this enormous information.
Followed by the presentation of Dr. Nguyen Tuan Hoa on the recommendations on applying digital technology in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and the final presentation was the blockchain technology and potential applications in Vietnam by MSc. Do Van Long.
