The project “Building a model of large-scale marine fish farming using HDPE plastic cages and high technology in the sea areas of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province” was launched

On the morning 26th March, the Department of Science and Technology organised an Advisory Council to select an organisation to implement the project “Building a model of large-scale marine fish farming using HDPE plastic cages and high technology in the sea areas of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province”. The chairman of the Council is Mr. Mai Thanh Quang – Director of the Department of Science and Technology. The project is led by MSc. Nguyen Xuan Toan and South Research Sub-Institute for Marine Fisheries is the lead agency.

The objectives of the project are to develop aquaculture in a sustainable manner based on promoting potentials, comparative advantages of the province’s natural conditions, production at large scale, diversifying objects and type of farming. In addition, the project ensures hygiene and safety of fishery products for export processing and domestic consumption in order to increase export turnover; creating more jobs, improving incomes for people; reducing the pressure on professions which harm coastal resources; contributing to the successful implementation of agricultural and rural industrialization and modernization goals in BR-VT province by 2020.

The project also applies technological processes of marine fishing farming in HDPE plastic cages, applying high-tech equipment systems to manage fish farming in Ba Ria -Vung Tau province. Moreover, the project is a pilot model of applying high-tech equipment systems for fish management and ensuring aesthetic and environmental hygiene in farming areas.

The Council evaluated the project’s requirements and suggested for implementing the project. However, it is necessary to add comments of the Council to complete the project before deploying.
