A new phase of the iNhandao digital platform was officially launched at a ceremony held by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Hanoi on October 1, aimed at facilitating humanitarian activities in Vietnam.

The platform is part of the "Ket noi trieu con tim” (Connecting Millions of Hearts) programme launched at the event in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

It is also under the framework of the Government’s project on "Developing the digital Vietnamese knowledge system.

Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Dam said that the “Digital Vietnamese knowledge system” project aims to share knowledge, promote creativity and connect the community towards a better future.

Dam expressed his hope that the entire community will participate in this project with their wholehearted efforts and sentiment as the name of the programme "Connecting Millions of Hearts” suggests, to mobilise our joint effort in seeking solutions to all problems.

Launched in 2018, the project hopes to build a data platform and disseminate knowledge in the fields of socio-economic development and science and technology, while creating favourable conditions for the community to participate in contributing, sharing, exploiting and creating digital applications for production, business and daily life activities through the digital knowledge system.

So far, the project has built a digital foundation in the fields of humanitarianism, education, healthcare, culture and tourism allowing the community to connect, share data and work together implementing activities for the benefit of the entire society, contributing to accelerating digital transformation in Vietnam. In 2019, the first two digital platforms, the Digital Humanitarian Platform (iNhandao) and the Vmap Digital Map, were welcomed by the community and gradually became applied in practice.

Following phase 1 of the iNhandao project, phase 2 is the result of cooperation between the Vietnam Red Cross Society, Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) and Vietnam Post Corporation (VNPost), aiming to build a social network model and encouraging users to share and update humane and humanitarian campaigns.

The system builds humanitarian data in order to provide organisations, individuals and businesses with complete and accurate information about those who need support as well as humanitarian campaigns, ensuring the support comes to the right people in a convenient and transparent manner. It also promotes application development for connecting and coordinating humanitarian work on both web and mobile platforms. Donors can track their sponsorship activities and results on the system easily and in detail.

At the launch, delegates were directly connected on the inhandao.vn platform with representatives of Red Cross Society chapters in Yen Bai and Phu Tho provinces, as well as meeting people in difficult circumstances who need the support of the community.

Through the digital humanitarian platform (iNhandao.vn), the Vietnam Red Cross Society has cooperated with the MB, the VNPost and the Ministry of Education and Training to launch the campaign "Connecting the future" , hoping to donate used tablets and smartphones to help students in mountainous areas of Phu Tho and Yen Bai provinces. The campaign will last for three months, from October 1 to December 31.

People can donate their used smartphones and tablets, manufactured from 2017 until now and are still in good use to nearest post offices of VNPost. The equipment will be technically checked, cleaned, and handed over to teachers and students in need.

In response to the campaign, the MB awarded 50 tablets and phones to disadvantaged students in Phu Tho and Yen Bai.

Also at the event, three new platforms the were launched, including a Covid-19 Safe Living Map (antoancovid.vn), a Digital Education Platform (iGiaoduc.vn) and a Compilation Project for the Vietnamese Encyclopaedia (bktt.vn).
