On January 19, 2019, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 100 / QD-TTg on approving the Scheme of implementing, applying and managing the traceability system. In order to implement, BR-VT Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 3360 / QD-UBND dated December 19, 2019 on the implementation of the Scheme on implementing, applying and managing traceability systems in BR-VT province. One of the important objectives of the Scheme: “By 2025, at least 30% of enterprises operating in the manufacturing, trading and service sectors using barcode codes in Vietnam have the traceability systems that apply national and international standards to ensure the interoperability and exchange of data with the traceability systems of domestic and international enterprises ”. This is a challenge for Vietnamese agencies, departments, sectors and businesses because Vietnamese businesses do not really care about that, and consumers are still quite easy to buy and use products.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Mai Thanh Quang - Director of the Department of Science and Technology said that in the current context, competition in the domestic market and the world is extremely important. It will contribute to the survival and development decisions of the business. Ensuring good quality goods is an important factor affecting the competitiveness of businesses. To do this, businesses need to ensure the basis for the trust of customers and consumers. The problem is that the information system of origin of products and goods is transparent from the stages, production, processing, storage and distribution to consumers. Therefore, product traceability is gradually becoming an inevitable trend and a mandatory requirement because it allows consumers to look up information from the final product to the place of production as well as reviewing each stage of production, processing and distribution.
At the conference, delegates were able to listen to the speeches and opinions of delegates. For example, Mr. Bui Ba Chinh introduced about the project of implementing, applying and managing traceability system (Project 100). Then, Mr. Nguyen Dac Minh shared about the current situation and solutions for implementing traceability management in Vietnam and some typical localities in applying traceability management. The leader of the Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality - Mr. Do Vu Khoa also introduced the Plan of implementing Project 100 on traceability in BR-VT province.
