On the morning of December 3, in Vung Tau City, the opening ceremony of the event "Connecting supply - demand for technology in Ba Ria - Vung Tau 2020" (Ba Ria - Vung Tau Techconnect 2020) was held by the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Attending the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Van Tung - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology; Mr. Tran Van Tuan - Member of Provincial Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee; together with leaders of People's Committees of provinces and cities; representatives of diplomatic organizations; Departments / Institutes under central ministries; representatives of the Departments of Science and Technology of the provinces and cities; domestic and foreign institutes, schools, associations and enterprises; central and local news agencies.

The opening ceremony attracted more than 800 visitors and nearly 1,000 visitors at nearly 200 booths that include many fields such as: agriculture with high technology; industrial applications 4.0; waste-environmental treatment; energy - energy saving solutions and related fields; innovative entrepreneurship booths and technical consultation area to introduce and support businesses participating in programs / projects.

The event will take place in 2 days (December 3, 4), including a series of main activities such as: Technology supply - demand connection activities and technical consulting, introduction and support to participate in the programs/ projects at the exhibition area; conference on local technology application and transfer in 2020; workshop on "High technology application in agriculture"; closing ceremony of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Techconnect 2020.

Speaking at the opening of the event, Mr. Tran Van Tuan said that the event is very important, promoting the work on researching, applying, innovating, transferring and innovating technology in enterprises and local organizations, helping to improve the commodity competitiveness of enterprises, creating conditions for scientists to apply results in production and business, contributing to economic and social development.

Currently, the situation of Covid-19 disease is still going on complicatedly and unpredictably. However, with the position of Party Committee, people and army, BR-VT province has been trying to overcome difficulties in implementing the "dual goal" of the Government. At the same time, implementing the Resolution of the 7th Provincial Party Congress of the term 2020-2025 comes to life, striving to develop Ba Ria - Vung Tau into a strong province in industry, seaport, tourism and high-tech agriculture associated with environmental protection, ensuring social security, national defense and security. Accordingly, the provincial leaders clearly identified the need to further strengthen the effective mobilization and use of resources. In addition, it is important to promote innovation, encourage and effectively apply the Party's lines and State’spolicies, taking enterprises as the center of the innovation system, creating a favorable legal environment and supporting enterprises in the production and business process; creating favorable conditions for technology transfer and innovation in enterprises and start-up activities and investment in startups.

At the same time, the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee also believe that the event focusing on groups of fields along with through scientific conferences together with exhibitions providing information on technology will really form a link technology supply - demand between scientific research institutions and production sectors, promoting technology transfer for research results generated, promoting the development of the technological market. Thereby, this will improve the research and development capacity of scientific research institutions in the direction of proactively connecting closely with the needs of the market and enterprises, promoting the formation and development of S&T enterprises. At the same time, it also encourage socialization of investment activities for S&T research and development.

Mr. Tran Van Tung  also affirmed that the activity of connecting supply - demand of technology is one of the specific and practical solutions to develop the S&T market of Vietnam, is a periodic activity. It is regularly chaired and coordinated by the Ministry of Science and Technology with localities to deploy at national and regional scales. Thereby, it will determine technology needs and connect with appropriate technology supply. This will contribute to socio-economic development in regions and localities across the country.
