To promote the development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau as a center of innovation in the field of Fisheries in 2021. On the morning of October 19, , the Department of Science and Technology of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province organized an online conference to launch the "Fisheries innovation challenge 2021". 

The contest is coordinated by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Information and Communications, Vietnam Science and Technology Startup Fund, and Syenergy and Development Viet Company Limited and supported by the Directorate of Fisheries. The contest with the motto "Innovation - exploiting potential" to help Vietnam's fisheries develop and reach the regional level. In which, Syenergy and Development Viet Company Limited is the main sponsor for the Contest.

Attending the conference were Mr. Vu Duyen Hai - Leader of the Fisheries Department - Directorate of Fisheries, Mr. Nguyen Cong Danh - Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, and representatives of departments, branches, agencies and experts and speakers in the country.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Danh said that: The contest is organized to seek, attract, develop technological solutions and innovation towards value enhancement and environmental protection; solve problems in every stage of the supply chain from farming, exploitation, preservation, processing to commercialization of seafood products and have the ability to develop into start-up products and projects with wide applications in the market. He also hopes that it will contribute to promoting innovative start-up activities in the province in the fishing and seafood processing industry. Initially, it develops ideas to forming innovative start-up businesses and projects with capable of rapid growth, and at the same time creating a premise to promote the development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau as a center of innovation in the field of Vietnam Fisheries.

At the conference, the delegates heard experts and managers in the field of seafood exploitation and processing start-up sharing their experiences in raising capital for startups; potential advantages of the fishing and seafood processing industry in BR-VT province; challenges and needs of applying technology and promoting innovation activities in aquaculture, exploitation, preservation, processing and commercialization of aquatic products.

Also at the conference, the Department of Science and Technology officially launched the contest. Accordingly, the contest’s contents include all technological and innovative solutions towards adding value and solving problems in all stages of the supply chain of the fishing and seafood processing industry such as aquaculture, exploitation, preservation, processing and commercialization of seafood products.

The contest is opened to all individuals, groups of individuals, researchers, domestic and foreign enterprises with technological and innovative solutions that are suitable to the seafood field.
