On December 3, the Department of Science and Technology held an online council to consult, evaluate and accept the results of the project “Upgrading and completing the system of solar power stations at Forest Protection Stations belonging to Con Dao National Park (the islands of Con Dao)”. Mr. Tran Duy Tam Thanh - Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology is the chairman of the council. MSc. Do Huu Hien is the director of the project. The Center for Information and Application of Science and Technology is the lead agency.

The project’s goals include:

+ Surveying needs and assessing the current status to serve the development of technology proposals and equipment for maintenance, upgrading and repairing, integrating and connecting with the existing equipment system to ensure operation and use the most optimal system;

+ Designing a complete model of application of solar energy technology to generate electricity for daily life, working and communication;

+ Buying the equipment, construction, installation, upgrading, repairing and connection of the solar power system and putting it into operation at 08 forest protection stations under the Con Dao National Park Management Board.

On behalf of the implementing agency, the project’s secretary briefly reported the implementation process and achieved results of the project, specifically:

After more than a year of project implementation, 08 solar power stations have been upgraded with a total capacity of 18,880Wp, of which 4,680Wp have been installed, and 14,200Wp of old solar cells have been installed. At the same time, the project also trained to transfer the operation and maintenance of these solar power stations to officers and soldiers of 08 stations generating electricity for daily life, lighting and communication, contributing security protection in the island area.

The project meets the requirements, but it needs to be supplemented and completed according to the Council's comments.
