USNRC and VARANS will exchange technological information relating to regulations on nuclear safety and impacts caused by nuclear sites on the surrounding environment. They will also conduct research programs on nuclear safety. USNRC pledged to assist VARANS by  providing training courses and inviting VARANS to join inspections to its nuclear reactors in the US.

Attending the signing ceremony, Minister, Chairman of the Government Office Nguyễn Xuân Phúc applauded the bilateral cooperation in the aspect of nuclear safety, hoping that the deal will be put into practice soon.

VARANS Director Ngô Đặng Nhân reiterated that the deal reflects the US desire to assist VARANS to fulfill its nuclear safety and security duties in line with the Law on Nuclear Energy ratified by the Vietnamese National Assembly on June 3, 2008.
