The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation was founded in 1955. And, so far, 38 people who have received their scientific fellowships have gone on to win Nobel Prizes in several different fields, while 14 people who have received their mathematics fellowships have later been awarded Noble Prizes in th field of mathematics.

They have all been pioneers in the fields of physics, chemistry, molecular biology, computer science, economics, mathematics and medicine. The fellowships provide the recipients with USD 50,000 USD a year for two years to be used to study anything in any the field in which they are interested.
Dr Thuc Quyen received this fellowship because she is a chemistry research scientist who focuses on research into organic semiconductor, which will help to shape foundation of new technology in the future.
