PVN started fabrication of the first jack-up in Vietnam

Morning of June 26, in the PTSC Downstream Port, Vungtau city, PetroVietnam (PVN) started the fabrication of the first 60m jack-up rig in Vietnam and two new-built service vessels. This is a key and important project for the oil and gas industry’s development in Vietnam.

Morning of June 26, in the PTSC Downstream Port, Vungtau city, PetroVietnam (PVN) started the fabrication of the first 60m jack-up rig in Vietnam and two new-built service vessels. This is a key and important project for the oil and gas industry’s development in Vietnam.

The 60m jack-up rig is an automatic and mobile drilling complex on large-scale sea, applied high technology which is first organized fabrication in Vietnam, invested by PVN with a total investment capital of USD180 million. According to the schedule, the jack up is built in 32 months. This jack up will enable PetroVietnam to gain initiative in oil and gas exploration and exploitation, minimize service lease from foreign contractors, affirm position of Vietnam oil and gas industry in international market.

At the ceremony, PetroVietnam Technical Services Joint Stock Company - PTSC (a subsidiary of PVN) inaugurated the ceremony of construction for 2 new-built service vessels with ATH 3,500 and 4,750 horsepower, the total invested amount is about USD16 million. The project is a part of the overall plan of Dung Quat Refinery Plant’s exploitation and operation; a contract award for Hoang Long - Hoan Vu J.O.C on the White Rhinoceros field development (Te Giac Trang), block 16.1.
