The anniversary in 2010 will be held in Phu Tho province as usual, but will be extended for ten days from April 14-23.

The Hung Kings are the legendary founders of Vietnam and Phu Tho is recognized as their ancestral land and location of Vietnam’s formation. The 2010 Hung Kings’ death anniversary aims to highlight traditional culture, patriotic sentiments, and heighten the sense of unity among Vietnam’s ethnic groups.

The decision on organizing the 2010 Hung Kings’ death anniversary was signed on December 10.

Besides the festivities in Phu Tho, other provinces with Hung Kings’ temples are allowed to organize their own celebrations for up to two days.
