On 6^th May, Department of Science & Technology organized a conference to accept scientific subject “study and build prevention plan from radiation problem in Ba Ria – Vung Tau region”, headed by PhD. Dang Duc Nhuan (Belongs to Institute of Science and nuclear Technology).

Target of the subject is making prevention schedule from radiation problem occurs on Ba Ria – Vung Tau province, eliminate radiation risks of radiation for people health and environment. Subject research team implemented following main contents:

Investigate real situation of usage and management of radiation sources in Ba Ria - Vung Tau region. Apply as real situation of management and radiation storage source of industry centre, managing and X-ray equipment usage to diagnose the health image in the province.

Study and propose for prevention work from radiation problem (UPSCBX) over the region of the province. Implement from leading Council in prevention work from radiation problem, in which leader is one of leader of People‘s committee or Department of Science & Technology…; Equip from necessary equipment and organize rehearsal of film script for direct implementation forces in prevention from radiation problem; radiation safety manager of radiation center is trained technology periodically in prevention from radiation problem.

Build procedure and film script in prevention radiation problem occurs on province region. The process is implemented in 5 steps: First step is informing the problem; second step is starting plan of recovering problems; third step is managing the situation; fourth step is managing site and regulating the problem; Fifth step is report.

Rehearsing as the film script (two film scripts), built with participation of leader of People‘s committee (department manager), director of Department of Science & Technology (standing deputy manager) and participation of relevant department and agencies such as Depart of Health, Depart of Nature resources and Environment, Joint-venture of Vietsovpetro oil and gas, representatives of Dong Nai Department of Science & Technology, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, etc.

Acceptance Council evaluates that this theme has real meaning because Ba Ria – Vung Tau province has many centre of using nuclear resource with various types, therefore risk is high. Research method and implementation procedure of the subject is implemented scientifically and practically and results of project will be basic to submit Provincial People‘s Committee the plan of coping with radiation problem. Council also requires the chairman of the subject to finish the lay-out of the subject more clearly and the subject is ranked as good level.
