VN, Japan to open rare earth and nuclear energy cooperation

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and Japanese counterpart Naoto Kan signed a joint statement on comprehensive development of the strategic partnership between Việt Nam and Japan for peace and prosperity in Asia.

During their talks, the two leaders agreed to maintain the exchange of high-ranking delegations and expand dialogues in all areas.

Việt Nam decided to partner with Japan to build the second nuclear power plant and conduct rare earth investigation, exploration, and processing here, revealed PM Dũng.

Appreciating PM Dũng’s proposals, Japanese PM Naoto Kan confirmed that Japan will wholeheartedly back Việt Nam’s nuclear power plant and rare earth projects.

It will also quickly assist Việt Nam to deploy the projects on the Long Thành International Airport, Ninh Bình–Bãi Vọt Highway, Nha Trang–Phan Thiết Highway, Lạch Huyện International Seaport, and new underground metro routes in Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City.

Japan will continue close cooperation with Việt Nam in human resource development, auxiliary industries, trade, investment, technology, and environmental protection, said the Japanese PM.

Việt Nam and Japan commit to close coordination in regional and international forums to deal with issues of common concern like global climate change.

Right after their talks, the two PMs signed a joint statement on the comprehensive development of the Việt Nam-Japan strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.
